Harlesford Farm

Harlesford farm is a small farm of 100ha permanent pasture situated on the outskirts of the Oxfordshire village of Tetsworth at the foot of the Chiltern Hills.

Harlesford farm benefits from having ancient species rich permanent pastures where the old ridge and furrow farming system can still be seen in most of the meadows.

The farm specialises in producing top quality beef and lamb which are allowed to grow slowly on the lush pastures to enable them to mature and develop their wonderful flavour.

All the animals benefit from being grass fed, grazing fresh lush grass in the spring, summer and autumn and eating hay and silage in the winter months.

There is good research to show that meat produced from animals reared on grass is better for your health when compared to grain fed animals. This is because of the presence of higher levels of good fats such as omega-3 and CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid). Grass fed meat has also been proved to be richer in antioxidants such as Vitamin E which has also been linked to lowering the risk of heart disease.

We are proud to confirm that no artificial fertilisers or chemicals are used on the pastures at Harlesford farm. Caring for our animals as well as the natural environment is very important to us. We use natural methods of weed control such as topping of thistles, docks and nettles at certain times of the year.
